The report from a visit to an ORT School in Stuttgart was compiled by an ORT school inspector in mid September 1947.

The report shows a typical example of a city school which catered for the needs of both those living in camp and those who chose to live as part of the German community.

Rather in a purpose-built school ORT classes in Stuttgart were being held in ordinary apartments and in the cellars, some of them so small that they are able to accommodate only three or four people.  Tellingly, in comparison with other ORT schools for DPs in Germany, these improvised teaching spaces are described in the report as ‘usable’ and even ‘fairly comfortable in the winter.’
