The ORT school in Zurich opened in January 1944. The first courses to be set up included cinema operating, men and female garments cutting as well as shoemaking. Later courses were opened in chemical technology, leatherwork, corset making, millinery, dressmaking and shirt making. The school also organized two professional workshops where its graduates in dressmaking and millinery worked on a cooperative basis executing private orders under the guidance of an ORT instructor. ORT's work in Zurich ceased in the beginning of 1949.
